City of Gold Coast launches Household Resilience Ratings Program
Gold Coast Households Invited to Register Now for 40 Free On-Site Resilience Ratings Assessments

The City of Gold Coast has launched the Gold Coast Resilience Ratings program in partnership with the Resilient Building Council (RBC), to help households reduce disaster risk – starting with 40 free on-site Resilience Ratings assessments available now as part of Stage 1 of the program.
Selected households will receive a personalised assessment and a tailored Resilience Ratings report showing how their home performs against major hazards including floods, bushfires, severe storms and cyclones, along with clear, practical recommendations to strengthen their property.
Mayor Tom Tate said it was important we had a clearer picture of the resilience of homes across the Gold Coast and identify where improvements could be made.
“As natural hazard risks increase so does the need for proactive action. More resilient homes means reduced damage, faster recovery, and safer communities,” Mayor Tate said.
“This program does two things. Firstly, it provides individuals with the information they need to strengthen and prepare their homes against natural hazards. Secondly it allows us a clearer picture of the state of our City in terms of residential property preparedness and resilience and how likely they are to withstand different event types.”
Kate Cotter, CEO of the Resilient Building Council, said:
“Every home upgraded, every resident engaged, is a step towards a more resilient Gold Coast.”
“This partnership shows what’s possible when communities and councils take real, science-backed action together.”
Dr David Henderson, Chief Engineer at JCU Cyclone Testing Station, said:
“Our research shows that storm and cyclone damage is preventable – but only if we act well before disaster strikes.”
